I Have Some News...

I'm in the stage of life where I'm trying to build a business (DHK Creations & Publications, LLC) and establish myself as a full-time book publisher and author. It's a weird time of life, a time of self-discovery and figuring out how to navigate adulthood. It's a time when I'm discovering my strengths and limitations.

One of my strengths: my drive to do my job and do it to the best of my abilities. When I'm working on a project for a client, I am hyper-focused on whatever I'm doing at that time, to the point that I can spend the whole day sitting in the same chair working. If something is not perfect, then I'm not going to stop until it is. (And yes, this strength can quickly become a weakness. My family keeps me in check and reminds me to take breaks.)

But one of my limitations is splitting my attention between multiple things, especially when it comes to social media. Social media, as I've explained in a previous blog post, is emotionally and mentally exhausting for me. It became an addiction that I have been working hard to keep in check. My productivity has gone up, and my time scrolling social media is at a record low, which is GREAT!!!!!!!!

But, as I'm juggling trying to build a business plus trying to establish myself as an author (@elizabethmaewolfram_author on IG) and bookish mentor (@wolframwriting on IG), plus DHK Creations & Publications, our Podcast the Wordsmith's Edge, and as a blogger on www.wolframwriting.com, I was getting overwhelmed. A lot of the accounts/entities I listed above were getting neglected. So something needed to change.

I've been considering this for a while before I realized it was time for action.

My mom was kind of going through the same thing. With her blog and social media accounts, we needed a way to simplify and streamline our brand. And that's exactly what we did....

INTRODUCING:

The Wordsmith's Edge | Blog & Podcast

Mom and I decided to combine our authors blog into one under the brand "The Wordsmith's Edge," for the author content of our company, DHK Creations & Publications, LLC. This is where writing tips, book reviews, etc. are all going to be posted from now on!

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

Well... it does mean that I am officially saying "Goodbye" to Wolfram Writing as a brand. I am keeping this website and blog up, but I'll use it more as an "author directory" than a blog. It is sad to see Wolfram Writing go, but I think the gain of simplifying and streamlining my focus is bigger than keeping a brand for myself. I may still post occasionally, and keep this as a "personal blog," but the majority of my work will be on The Wordsmith's Edge!

That's the news I have for now! I'm getting several blog posts written, including dialogue/writing prompts, a book review for my current favorite read, and some tips on how to intentionally write suppressed or stoic characters!

Be sure to subscribe to The Wordsmith's Edge so you never miss an update!

See you there!
