Ask Me What It Is - A Poem

Every paladin has their possibilities,

Every hero knows their source of power,

Whether they were born with those mystical abilities,

Or they gained them at the strangest hour.

Just ask me what it is,

For the answer just makes sense.

Could Columbus have sailed the ocean blue,

Without the very thing that gave tenacity -

Refreshing his mind for which he had no clue

As he met the mainland with sure vivacity?

Just ask me what it is

For the answer is intense.

Could Washington have charged the enemy ranks,

With sword in hand, yet no mug in the other?

Could the North have crossed the rivers' banks,

Without the sweetly treasure sent from their mother?

Just ask me what it is,

That caused them to enlist.

It truly is a simple realization,

A single word that starts with “C.”

No, to be honest, it isn’t called, “consolidation,”

But it is a brewer of true unity.

Just ask me what it is we heeded

A notion we should’ve all believed in.

Could the Giants of America

Be as large as we now see?

If it weren’t for this power’s esoterica

That spans the course of history?

I’m sure with all the hints and tips,

You might be able to take a guess,

And figure out the heroes' tricks,

That got them out of many a mess.

But, if you don’t yet know,

And you want to see,

The true star of the show

Is a little thing, a little drink -

A simple sip of your…

Coffee!
